Law & Policy Reform
The Centre aims to change the context we work in. This means as well providing specialist legal assistance to women, we use our expertise and the experiences of our clients to inform better law and policy responses for women.
We provide expert advice to government, community and other stakeholders on key law and policy reform issues for women and particular community and cultural groups. We do this through contributing to public inquiry and submission processes, as well as through our membership on a number of Councils and Committees, informed by our day to day service delivery.
We also represent women in legal matters where there is greater social benefit and impact for a wider cohort of women to challenge current laws and policies (‘public interest litigation’).
